Vortex expands Razor HD Gen III line with VMR-5 reticle

Vortex Optics has introduced a VMR-5 reticle option for its Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56 FFP riflescope, giving precision-rifle shooters a cleaner sight picture and finer aiming references for rapid corrections at distance.

The VMR-5 is built around the PRS sequence: spot the miss, work out the correction, apply it and fire again before the clock runs out.

Designed with PRS competition and other long-range disciplines in mind, the new configuration is intended to help shooters identify targets, observe bullet impact and refine subsequent holds without losing sight of the target.

The VMR-5 is a first focal plane reticle available in both MOA and MRAD versions. Its fine subtensions can be used for measuring targets and making precise elevation or windage corrections, while the comparatively uncluttered design is intended to keep more of the target visible.

That combination should particularly appeal to competitors working against the clock. In a PRS stage, identifying a miss is only part of the challenge: the shooter must also determine the required correction, apply it and fire again before time expires. Vortex says the VMR-5 was developed around this sequence.

The reticle joins the existing EBR-7D option in the Razor HD Gen III 6-36×56 FFP range. The addition allows customers to choose between two reticle designs according to their shooting style and preferred approach to long-range stages.

Beyond the new reticle, the riflescope retains the established features of the 6-36×56 platform. Its broad magnification range supports target identification and detailed impact observation, while Vortex’s HD optical system is designed to deliver strong resolution and a wide field of view.

The scope also incorporates the company’s L-TEC+ zero system, which provides tool-free zeroing, return-to-zero capability and fine adjustment. Exposed locking elevation and windage turrets allow users to dial corrections before securing the settings in place.

A locking side-illumination control offers 10 brightness levels, with tactile clicks designed to make adjustment easier in the field.

The VMR-5-equipped Razor HD Gen III 6-36×56 FFP carries a US suggested retail price of $4,799.99 and a minimum advertised price of $2,999.99.

For dealers, the launch adds another clearly differentiated option at the premium end of the precision-optics market. It also broadens the potential appeal of the Razor HD Gen III family without introducing an entirely separate optical platform.

The wider Razor HD Gen III range includes 1-10×24, 4-24×44 and 6-36×56 configurations, covering applications from close-range shooting to long-range competition.
