ADIHEX 2024 Closes with Historic Visitor Numbers and Expanded International Participation

The 21st edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX), held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recently concluded at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.

This year's event, marking the largest in its history since its inception in 2003, attracted a record-breaking 347,481 visitors - a 205% increase from the previous year. The event was organized by ADNEC Group in strategic partnership with the Emirates Falconers’ Club, affirming its stature as a global celebration of heritage, culture, and outdoor pursuits.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of ADNEC Group, reflected on the event's success, stating, "The 21st edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Show was a landmark event that reinforced Abu Dhabi's position as a global center for celebrating the cultural heritage associated with hunting and equestrianism." He expressed gratitude towards the leadership for their unwavering support, which significantly contributed to the success of the exhibition, and acknowledged the vital roles played by numerous sponsors and partners from both public and private sectors.

This year’s ADIHEX showcased 1,742 companies and brands from 65 countries, representing a 58.5% increase compared to the previous edition. It also featured an expanded total surface area of over 87,000 square meters, up by 34% from last year, accommodating more exhibitors and providing a richer experience for attendees.

Saad Al Hassani, Director of the show, noted the widespread participation of local and international exhibitors who showcased the authentic cultural heritage associated with the sports of hunting and equestrianism. "The show has provided a global forum for cultural exchange and the promotion of sustainable practices," he said, underlining the event's role in shaping a sustainable future while honoring traditional values.

The exhibition was not just about numbers but also about the quality and diversity of its offerings. This edition featured 11 distinct sectors including equestrian, falconry, hunting, fishing, camping, arts and crafts, and UAE heritage and traditions. New to this year was the Knowledge Platform, which hosted engaging dialogues and discussions on sustainable hunting and conservation.

A highlight of the exhibition was the daily falcon auction at the Arena, emphasizing the UAE's role in falconry and wildlife conservation. For the first time, ADIHEX offered online bidding, broadening participation. The Elite Falcon Auction was a notable event, drawing falcon enthusiasts from across the UAE. A total of 325 falcons worth AED 5.4 million were sold, and 302 falcons received the prestigious Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Show badge.

The falconry beauty contest and the Arabian Camel Auction were other key attractions, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the UAE. The falconry contest saw ten falcons compete, with "Eliasat" judged as the most beautiful falcon. The camel auction, too, drew significant interest, with sales totaling AED 2.5 million for 15 elite-quality camels.

ADIHEX also set a Guinness World Record for creating the world's largest falcon burqa, measured at 1.95 meters in diameter, showcasing the inventive spirit of the event. Additionally, the exhibition attracted over 1,038 media professionals, a 108% increase from last year, highlighting its growing prominence.

Educational and interactive visits for thousands of school children from across Abu Dhabi were organized, providing insights into Emirati culture, heritage, and sustainability practices. The exhibition also featured a variety of activities for all age groups, including educational workshops on wildlife conservation and sustainable hunting practices, and traditional Emirati dance performances.

The final day featured a competition for People of Determination, emphasizing ADIHEX's commitment to inclusivity. The main sponsors contributed significantly to the success of the exhibition, enhancing visitor experiences and reaffirming ADIHEX's position as a leading global hunting and equestrian event.

Looking ahead, ADNEC Group aims to further elevate ADIHEX by expanding its program of activities and encouraging international participation to promote the cultural and heritage diversity of the UAE and the region. This strategic vision underscores the exhibition’s role not only as a marketplace but as a platform for cultural dialogue and environmental stewardship.
