Portuguese Army selects GLOCK G17Gen5 as duty weapon
GLOCK GmbH (Austria) has revealed that the Portuguese Army has adopted the GLOCK G17Gen5 as its new duty weapon.
Within a tender launched earlier this year through NSPA (NATO Support and Procurement Agency), GLOCK competed against several main brands and was awarded the contract in late July 2019.
Richard Fluer, director of international dales, is very proud of this new success in Portugal and said, “We will support the missions of the Portugese Army with the most recent GLOCK pistols in Gen5”, underlining GLOCK’s strong position within several Portuguese units, including both military and police branches.
Mr. Bravo, CEO of Sodarca, GLOCK representative in Portugal, congratulated the army Chief of Staff team for the positive achievement through a transparent and effective public tender, “a public competition that has been expected for several years, and has been finally concluded successfully with the best option possible.”
The selected G17Gen5 is ideal for both left- and right-handed shooters thanks to the reversible magazine catch and ambidextrous slide stop lever. Each is equipped with the GMB (GLOCK Marksman Barrel) for increased precision, features the ideal Gen5 trigger system, has front serrations on the slide and GLOCK luminescent sights with Phosphor inlays.
